What is a Eutectic: The term "Eutectic" was chosen by a student in 1993. It's a scientific term that describes the process of two solids combining to form a liquid. The term is also a metaphor for the school's athletic program, which combines athletics with a challenging academic program. In 2012, alumnus Dr. John Miller named the mascot Mortarmer "Morty" McPestle. Morty is depicted in a white lab coat, ready for competition. ESPN once called the Eutectic one of the country's most unusual mascots. Morty is a monster on the field and a mentor in the lab. He brings together the school and creates a blend of fun and school pride.
