th point in an OU uniform with his first basket of the night. He is the second Brave this season to achieve the milestone, joining teammate
Deondre Buggage. Hibbitt became the 28
th OU men's basketball player to score 1,000 points as a Brave.
With the game tied at 11 all at the 13:21 mark in the first half, the Eagles put together an 11-1 run to take a 21-12 lead over the Braves. Ottawa chipped away at the deficit and after a basket by
Landyn Tyler, Ottawa led 31-30.
OKWU tied the game on a free throw but a basket by
Trey Twa and two
Deondre Buggage free throws gave OU a 35-31 lead with 34 seconds on the clock. The Braves were not able to get the defensive stop that they wanted in the final seconds of the half and OU took a 35-34 lead into the locker room.
The Eagles scored the first seven points of the second half, taking a 41-35 lead over the Braves. Ottawa responded with a run of its own, 14-6, to take a 49-47 lead on a 3-pt play by
Najee Jones. The teams exchanged baskets and with 8:40 left in regulation Ottawa had a one point lead, 58-57.
Oklahoma Wesleyan answered with another run, 14-4, to take a 71-62 lead over OU. Five straight points by the Braves cut the deficit to 71-67 with 2:26 on the clock. That is all the closer the Braves would get. Ottawa was not able to complete the rally in the final two minutes of the contest and OKWU took the 83-76 victory.
