Women's Basketball is Upended by Bethel, 75-70

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell 75-70 to Bethel College on Saturday afternoon in Wilson Field House.

The Braves had an 11-6 lead over Bethel at the halfway point of the first quarter. Bethel cut OU's lead to 11-8. Ottawa answered with a 3-pt field goal by Dominique Schutte and the Braves had a 14-8 with 1:33 left in the first. Bethel ended the quarter strong, scoring the final six points of the first and the game was tied 14-14 at the start of the second.

Bethel increased its lead to 33-19. Ottawa cut into the Thresher lead and after a basket by Tiyani Rolllins. OU was within 36-28 with 2:13 left in the half. Bethel increased its lead back to double figures, 38-28. Ottawa held Bethel scoreless for the remainder of the half. OU was able to get BC's lead under 10 and the Braves trailed 38-32 at the half.

The Threshers pushed its lead back to double digits, taking a 53-37 lead with 4:27 to go in the third quarter. Ottawa was unable to get Bethel's lead under 10 points at the end of the third and the Threshers had a 62-49 lead at the start of the fourth.

With 4:48 left in regulation, Bethel had pushed its lead to 17 points, 75-58. The OU defense held Bethel scoreless in the final four minutes of the game. The Braves were able to out score the Threshers 12-0 but OU ran out of time and Bethel took the 75-70 victory.
