Women's Basketball and Saint Mary Meet in WFH on Thursday for Senior Night

Ottawa is 8-18 overall and 5-15 in the KCAC. OU lost its third straight game last Saturday, 75-70, to Bethel College in Wilson Field House. Ottawa shot 39 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 80 percent from the free throw line. Janiyah Hendricks led OU with 20 points. Sydney Scott came off the bench to score 12 points and Nora Ford finished the game with 11 points. Anna Eldridge led OU with seven rebounds. Hendricks had four assists and four steals. Ford finished with four steals.

This season, the Braves are averaging 71.0 points per game, 36.6 rebounds per game and 11.9 assists per game. OU is shooting 37.3 percent from the floor, 29.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.1 percent from the free throw line.

Ottawa will honor is five seniors on Wednesday after the completion of the women's basketball game. They are Sydney Scott, Janiyah Hendricks, Katelyn Alatini, Nora Ford and Nayeli Acosta.

Nora Ford leads the team in scoring (12.9), Abbie Sextro is OU's leader in rebounding (6.2), Janiyah Hendricks leads OU in assists (2.7) per game, Sextro is Ottawa's leader in blocks (0.6), and Ford is the Braves' leader in steals (2.3) per game.

The Braves have an overall record of 4-8 and a KCAC mark of 2-8 inside of Wilson Field House this season. Ottawa is averaging 75.6 points per game, shooting 39 percent from the floor, and 29.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line. Opponents are scoring 76.9 points per game, shooting 43.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 33 percent from the free throw line.

In KCAC games this season Ottawa is being outscoring 77-70 by opponents. The Braves are shooting 37.6 percent from the floor and 29.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line. Opponents are shooting 43.2 percent from the floor and 34.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line.

Wednesday is the 62nd meeting between Ottawa University and the University of Saint Mary. Ottawa leads the series 46-15 but USM is on a six game winning streak against OU. The last time Ottawa defeated USM was on Jan. 19, 2022 in Leavenworth. The Braves won in three OT, 101-98. The Spires won the first meeting this season on Jan. 22 in Leavenworth, 78-53. Ottawa has lost two straight in Wilson Field House against Saint Mary. The last time OU won in Wilson Field House against the Spires was on Nov. 23, 2021, 81-57. The first ever meeting between the two teams was on Nov. 12, 1994 in Wilson Field House. OU won the game 95-33.

In the first game this season on Jan. 22 in Leavenworth, Ottawa shot 29.6 percent from the floor, 50 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 56 percent from the free throw line. Nora Ford led OU with 16 points and eight rebounds. She also had three assists, one block, and three steals. Abbie Sextro finished with seven points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal.

The University of Saint Mary is 12-14 overall and are tied for seventh in the KCAC with a mark of 11-9. USM is 5-10 on the road this season and had its two game winning streak broken last Saturday with a 67-56 loss at Tabor.

Saint Mary is averaging 69.4 points, 39.8 rebounds, and 11.2 assists per game. They are shooting 38.2 percent from the floor, 31.0 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 71.7 percent from the free throw line.

Alanis Delgado leads the Spires in scoring (15.7), Addison Schletzbaum is USM's leader in rebounding (7.8), Delgado is the team's leader in assists (3.0), Katelynn Ostronic is Ottawa's leader in blocks (0.7), and Delgado leads the Braves in steals (1.0) per game.

On the road this season, USM is averaging 67.1 points per game and shooting 37.3 percent from the floor and 30 percent from the 3-pt line.

In the Spires wins, they are scoring 77 points per game. In their losses they are scoring 62.9 points per game.
