Men's Volleyball Upends Clarke, 3-0

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team defeated Clarke University 3-0; 25-21 25-20, 25-18; on Friday night at the Kehl Center.

How it Happened
  • Ottawa jumped out to a 9-5 lead over Clarke in set one. Kills by Marko Zolnjan and Macort Pickup gave OU an 11-6 lead. A Pickup kill increased the Brave lead to 17-9. Clarke rallied, cutting OU's lead to 24-21. The Braves were able to win the set on the next point, an Akeil Williams kill, 25-21.
  • Clarke opened set two with a 7-2 lead. Back-to-back kills by Williams cut the deficit to 7-4. Ottawa rallied, putting together an 8-3 run to take a 12-10 lead over the Pride. Clarke tied the set, but two more Williams' kills gave the Braves a 16-14 lead. The Pride tried to rally and were within 23-20 of the Braves. Ottawa responded by scoring the next two points, kills by Kadeem Morris and Pickup, to take the 25-20 victory.
  • Ottawa raced out to an 8-1 lead over Clarke in set three. CU rallied, cutting OU's lead to 15-11. Ottawa responded with a 5-2 run to take a 20-13 lead on a block by Zolnjan. Clarke never threatened the OU lead for the remainder of the set and the Braves took the 25-18 victory.
