Men's Basketball Travels to Kansas City, Mo. to Play Avila on Wednesday

The Braves defeated McPherson College, 101-99, on Saturday night in Wilson Field House. Ottawa shot 55.2 percent from the floor, 48 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and were a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line. OU had four players in double figures led by Najee Jones 38 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the floor. He also led OU with six assists. Keith Robinson finished with his eighth double-double of the season, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jayden Hibbitt scored 12 points and Payton Kaiser finished the game with 11 points. It was Kaiser's third straight game with 10 or more points.

Ottawa is averaging 83.1 points, 39.9 rebounds, and 15.5 assists per game. They are shooting 46.6 percent from the floor, 33.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 76.7 percent from the free throw line.

Jayden Hibbitt leads the Braves in scoring (17.0), Keith Robinson is the team's leader in rebounding (8.6), Najee Jones is OU's leader in assists (3.3), Alex Riddick leads the team in blocks (0.9), and Jones is the Braves' leader in steals (1.8) per game.

After not scoring in double figures at all this season, Payton Kaiser has picked up his scoring the last three games. The Braves won the first game this season in Wilson Field House on Jan. 13, 77-57. OU has won six straight games in Mabee Fieldhouse against Avila. The last time OU lost to AU in Mabee Fieldhouse was on Nov. 13, 2025, 83-79. The first ever meeting between the two teams happened in Liberty, Mo. on Nov. 19, 1983. Ottawa won the game, 69-49.

In OU's 77-57 victory over Avila on Jan. 13, Ottawa shot 41 percent from the floor, 25 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. OU had four players in double figures, led by Jayden Hibbitt's 19 points. Deondre Buggage scored 17 points, Najee Jones finished the game with 16 points and Keith Robinson scored 16 points. Robinson finished with a double-double, tallying 10 rebounds. Buggage led OU with six assists. Trey Twa had four blocks and three steals.

Najee Jones was 14-for-14 from the free throw line in OU's win over McPherson on Saturday. His 14 made free throws ties him for fifth in the OU record book in single game made free throws. Jones' 38 points is tied for eighth in the OU record book for single game scoring.

Avila University has an overall record of 9-12, a KCAC mark of 6-10, is on a five game losing streak, and is 5-5 in Mabee Fieldhouse this season. The Eagles have not won since Jan. 15 against Evangel (78-67). In its five game losing streak, Avila has losses to McPherson (87-83), York (92-88), Southwestern (79-71), Oklahoma Wesleyan (84-70), and Friends (78-64).

Xavier Kahube leads Avila in scoring (16.7), rebounding (7.6), assists (2.4), and blocks (1.1). Joe Kearney is the Eagles leader in steals (2.0) per game.

Avila is averaging 73.2 points per game, 36.6 rebounds per game, and 12.4 assists per game. They are shooting 44.2 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 63.1 percent from the free throw line.

The Eagles are ranked 49th in the NAIA in blocks per game (3.5). 45th in opponent field goal percentage (.422), and 30th in opponent free throw attempts (30.8) per game.
