OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University softball team swept Haskell Indian Nations University on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Park. The Braves won both games in five innings, taking game one 12-1 and game two, 12-0.
Game One
Ottawa took the lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Macy Roever was hit by a pitch and then stole second. An error by the HINU shortstop put
Kara Hafenstine on first and the Braves had runners on first and second.
Katie Enneking scored both with a triple to right, giving OU the 2-0 lead.
The Braves increased their lead in the bottom of the second. Davanie Medina doubled to right and then scored on
Mallory Dunn's triple to right field to give the Braves led 3-0. Ottawa increased its lead to 4-0 when Dunn scored on a passed ball.
In the third inning OU scored eight runs on six hits and two HINU errors to take a 12-0 lead over Haskell. In the top of the fourth, Haskell scored one run to cut OU's lead to 12-1.
Ottawa held Haskell scoreless in the top of the fifth, taking the 12-1 victory.
Inside the Box Score
- The Braves finished the game with 11 hits and eight RBI.
- Davanie Medina finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs. Two of Medina's hits were doubles.
- Mallory Dunn had two hits, scored two runs, and had two RBI.

Game Two
Ottawa jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Macy Roever tripled to right.
Kara Hafenstine reached first on an error by the HINU second baseman. That error allowed Roever to score and the Braves had a 1-0 lead.
Addison Spencer tripled to right, scoring Hafenstine and the Braves led 2-0. Spencer then scored on a wild pitch and Ottawa had a 3-0 lead.
Katie Enneking walked. She advanced to second on a passed ball. Enneking was able to score on an error by the Haskell first baseman and OU led 4-0.
In the bottom of the second, the Braves were able to score three runs with two outs. Roever tripled to center. An infield single by Hafenstine scored Roever and the Braves had a 5-0 lead. Hafenstine stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Addison Spencer's double to right scored Hafenstine, giving OU a 6-0 lead.
Alex Genty's single up the middle moved Spencer to third. An an error by the HINU shortstop scored Spencer to give the Braves a 7-0 lead.
Ottawa scored two more runs in the bottom of the third.
Emma Melvin double to center to lead off the Braves.
Elizabeth Palmer reached first on an error by the HINU second baseman and Melvin moved to third. A passed ball by the Haskell catcher scored Melvin to give the Braves an 8-0 lead. Palmer scored on a ground out by
Megan Kennedy and Ottawa had a 9-0 lead.
The Braves increased their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Alex Genty walked and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Katie Enneking's single to left moved Genty to third and OU had runners on the corners. A sacrifice fly to center by Butts scored Genty. It moved Enneking to third and Ottawa led 10-0.
Melvin's single to left scored Enneking, increasing the OU lead to 11-0. Davanie Medina who came in as a pinch runner for Melvin, moved to second on a passed ball and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Palmer's sacrifice fly to left scored Medina and the Braves took the lead and the game 12-0.
