OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team defeated Kansas Wesleyan University 3-0; 25-15, 25-18, 25-22; on Tuesday night in the Mabee Center.
How it Happened
- Trailing 5-4 in set one, Ottawa scored four straight points to take an 8-5 lead over KWU. A block by Petar Lazic and Kadeem Morris gave the Braves a 13-8 lead. Ottawa pushed its lead to 20-10 after a kill by Akeil Williams. The Braves did not allow KWU to rally and the Braves took the 25-15 victory.
- Kansas Wesleyan scored the first three points of set two to take the early lead. Ottawa answered with a 13-3 run, taking a 13-6 lead on a Marko Zolnjan service ace. The Coyotes rallied, cutting OU's lead to 14-13. Ottawa scored the next two points, a Kadeem Morris kill and a bad set by KWU to take a 16-13 lead. That was all the closer KWU would get to the Braves as OU took the 25-18 victory.
- The Coyotes had an early 5-2 lead over the Braves. Ottawa rallied and after a kill by Williams, OU had an 11-8 lead. The Coyotes did not go away and tied the set at 15 all. The Braves answered by scoring the next four points, retaking the lead 19-15. KWU responded with a 4-1 run and tied the set at 20 all. Ottawa went on a 3-1 run, taking a 23-21 lead on a Macort Pickup kill. KWU scored the next point, cutting OU's lead to 23-22. Ottawa scored the next two points, taking the set on a Petar Lazic kill, 25-22.
