Men's Volleyball is Defeated by (9) Park, 3-1

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-1; 25-21, 16-25, 19-25, 25-27; to (9) Park University on Wednesday evening in the Mabee Center.

How it Happened
  • The Braves took a 7-1 lead over Park in set one. A block by Marton Zarka and Akeil Williams gave the Braves a 12-4 lead. The Pirates chipped away at the Brave lead, scoring five straight points to cut OU's lead to 12-9. Ottawa responded with a 3-1 run, increasing its lead to 15-10 on a Pirate attacking error. Park did not go away and cut the Brave lead to 24-21. That is all the closer that Park would get. OU scored the next point, a Marko Zolnjan kill, taking the 25-21 victory.
  • Park opened set two with a 10-2 lead over OU. The Braves were unable to rebound from their slow start and the Pirates took the 25-16 victory.
  • In set three, Park jumped out to the 5-2 lead. Ottawa cut into the Pirate lead and after a kill by Macort Pickup and a Park attacking error, OU was within 10-8. Park responded by scoring the next four points, taking a 14-8 lead over the Braves. Ottawa was unable to stage a comeback and Park took the 25-19 victory.
  • Back-to-back kills by Pickup gave OU a 7-3 lead in set four. Ottawa increased its lead to 11-7 on a Pirate attacking error. Park rallied, taking a 17-16 lead over the Braves. The set went back and fort and the Pirates had a 23-21 lead. After a timeout by the Braves, OU scored the next three points, taking a 24-23 lead on a block by Williams and Pickup. Park tied the set on the next point, 24-24. Ottawa retook the lead on a kill by Williams, 25-24. That is the last lead the Braves would have. Park scored the next three points, taking the 27-25 victory.
