Men's Volleyball Falls to (4) Missouri Baptist, 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-0; 25-16, 25-21, 36-34; to (4) Missouri Baptist University in the Mabee Center on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • With the Braves leading set one, 6-5, the Spartans went on a 9-2 run to take a 14-8 lead over the Braves. Ottawa was unable to rally, and Missouri Baptist took the 25-16 victory.
  • The two teams went back and forth at the beginning of set two. Ottawa tied the set, 11-11, on a Leo Betin kill. MBU answered with an 8-2 run to take a 19-13 lead over the Braves. OU could not stage a comeback, and the Spartans won set two, 25-21.
  • The Braves took the early lead, 11-8, in set three. A kill by Macort Pickup and a MBU attacking error gave OU an 18-13 lead. The Spartans rallied and tied the set at 24 all. The Braves retook the lead on a Marko Zolnjan kill, 25-24. Missouri Baptist scored the next two points to take a 26-25 lead. A MBU service error and a kill by Betin gave OU a 27-26 lead. The teams exchanged points, and Ottawa had a 34-33 lead after a block by Zarka and Akeil Williams. OU, however, was unable to hold on to its lead. MBU scored the next three points, taking the set 36-34.
