Cedar Rapids, IOWA - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team got back in the win column as they defeated Mount Mercy by a score of 27-5 on Wednesday evening.
The Braves led wire to wire, scoring the first three goals and leading 8-2 after the first quarter. An 8-1 second quarter gave them a 16-3 halftime lead. Ottawa shined defensively in the third quarter, not giving up a goal while scoring seven of their own. A 4-2 fourth quarter capped off the 27-5 win.
Rilee Barnett led Ottawa with six goals,
Brianna Valadao scored five.
Makayla Mason scored four goals,
KaiAnna Senne scored three.
Lilliana Lopez,
Ashlyn Lopez, and
Curstin Brown scored two goals apiece, while
Hailei Gregg,
Isabella Pagliei, and
Liv Staberg scored one goal each. Barnett made five assists,
Lilliana Lopez made three. Senne made two assists, and Valadao, Brown, and
Ashlyn Lopez made one each.
Shelby Bearden made four saves in goal,
Eliza White made two.
Ottawa (3-4, 2-0 HAAC) returns to the field on Saturday, March 15 as they travel to Marshall, Missouri for an away game at Missouri Valley. That game is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
