Marshall, MO. - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team finished their week with a win as they deeated Missouri Valley by a score of 22-9 on Saturday afternoon.
The game started close, with Missouri Valley scoring the first, then Ottawa followed up with two goals of their own. Missouri Valley tied the game at two, but the Braves would score two more straight goals and never surrender the lead again. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 4-3 in favor of Ottawa. Ottawa stretched their lead in the second quarter, scoring four straight to start the period, and scoring three straight to end it. Going into halftime, the Braves lead 11-5. Ottawa secured their win with 7-3 and 4-1 third and fourth quarters.
Rilee Barnett led Ottawa with seven goals,
Brianna Valadao scored four.
Makayla Mason and
Ashlyn Lopez scored three goals each,
Isabella Pagliei scored two.
KaiAnna Senne,
Curstin Brown, and
Faith Ruoff scored one goal each. Senne made three assists,
Ashlyn Lopez made two. Barnett,
Lilliana Lopez, Mason, Valadao, Brown, and Pagliei made one assist each.
Shelby Bearden made nine saves in goal.Â
Ottawa (4-4, 3-0 HAAC) returns to the field on Wednesday, March 19 as they host (2) Cumberlands at AdventHealth Field. That game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
