NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Ottawa University flag football team defeated Bethel College 54-0 at Threshers Stadium on Wednesday night. The win is OU's 16
th straight, dating back to the 2024 season. The Brave defense has not allowed a point in their last four games.
Ottawa received the ball to start the game and three plays later they were in the end zone.
Addison Orsborn ran for the 37 yard touchdown.
Madysen Carrera's extra point attempt was good and with 10 minutes left in the first quarter, Ottawa led 7-0.
The Brave defense forced a Thresher punt and Ottawa's offense took over its own 29 yard line with 5:50 remaining in the first quarter. This scoring drive only took two plays.
Madysen Carrera thew a 13 yard touchdown pass to Jaida Brown. The extra point attempt by Carrera was good and the Braves led 14-0 with 4:47 left in the first quarter.
Ottawa's defense forced its second straight punt. Orsborn gave the OU offense excellent field position with her 44 yard punt return and Ottawa took over on the Bethel 15 yard line.
The Braves, however were not able to take advantage of the excellent field position. OU turned the ball over on the first play and Bethel took over.
The Threshers moved the ball to its own 37 yard line and went for it on fourth and three. The Braves came up with the stop and OU took over with 10:42 left in the half.
It did not take long for OU to find the end zone.
Olivia Cadiz threw a 17 yard touchdown pass to Taliyah McInnis, giving Ottawa a 20-0 lead with.
Bethel's next offensive possession was its best of the game. The Threshers moved the ball to the OU five yard line. On third down,
Tatiana Dos Santos came away with the interception. She returned the ball 49 yards to the Bethel 30 yard line and OU took over with 4:44 left in the first half.
The Braves were able to take advantage of the field position. Cadiz threw a 12 yard touchdown pass to McInnis. The extra point attempt by Cadiz was good and Ottawa took a 27-0 lead into the locker room.
Bethel received the ball to start the second half and the OU defense forced another Thresher punt. Orsborn quickly got OU on the scoreboard in the second half. She returned the punt 31 yards for the touchdown and OU had a 33-0 lead.
The Braves scored three more touchdowns in the game, one more in the third and two more in the fourth to take the 54-0 victory.
