OTTAWA, Kan. – The (22) Ottawa University baseball team took the double header sweep and the series from the University of Saint Mary on Friday afternoon at Alumni Park. Ottawa won game one, 17-1 in seven innings and took game two 24-1.
Game One
Ottawa took the lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Brian Parry hit an infield single and moved to third on a single to center by
Cole Broughton.
Dylan Garcia's sacrifice fly to center scored Parry and the Braves had a 1-0 lead.
Shaun Gomez, Jr. increased the Brave lead with a two-run home run over the center field fence and OU led 3-0.
The Braves increased their lead in the bottom of the second inning with eight runs.
Nicholas Sizemore reached first on a walk.
Jaquavius Davis' single to center moved Sizemore to second. Sizemore advanced to third on a bobble by the USM center fielder and OU had runners on the corners.
Davis stole second and
Julius Ryan was hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Braves. Parry took advantage of runners in scoring position, hitting a double to center. His hit scored Sizemore and Davis and moved Ryan to third, giving OU a 5-0 lead.
Cole Broughton scored Ryan with an infield singled, increasing the OU lead to 6-0.
Dylan Garcia pushed two more runs across home plate with a double to right and the Braves had an 8-0 lead.
Anthony Soria's double to left scored Garcia, giving OU a 9-0 lead. Davis singled to center, scoring Soria to give Ottawa a 10-0 lead. The Braves scored one more run in the inning.
Nicholas Sizemore stole home, and OU had an 11-0 lead.
The Braves pushed two more runs across home plate in the bottom of the fourth. Soria doubled to center and advanced third on a ground out by Sizemore. One a 1-1 count, Davis hit a home run to center, and the Braves had a 13-0 lead.
USM cut into the Brave lead with one run in the top of the fifth, 13-1. In the bottom of the sixth, the Braves increased their lead over the Spires.
Ryan doubled to right.
Owen Powers followed that with a double of his own, scoring Ryan to give the Braves a 14-1 lead. Broughton scored Powers with a single to center and OU had a 15-1 lead.
Broughton scored on a steal and OU led 16-1. Garcia scored OU's final run of the game on a double to left by
Ismael Ortiz and the Braves took the lead and the game 17-1, in seven innings.

Game Two
Ottawa's offense exploded for 15 runs in the first inning. The Braves had 11 hits in the inning, taking the 15-0 lead.
The Braves increased their lead over the Spires in the bottom of the second inning.
Dylan Garcia led off the inning with a home run to center on a 0-1 count and Ottawa led 16-0.
Shaun Gomez, Jr. was hit by a pitch and then moved to second on a single to left by
Jackson Alaniz.
Jaquavius Davis hit a three run home run on a 1-1 count to give OU a 19-0.
Branden Franz followed that with a home run to left on a 3-1 count and OU took a 20-0 lead.
OU pushed two more runs across home plate in the bottom of the third. Garcia hit an infield singled. Three pitches later Gomez hit a home run to left and Ottawa had a 22-0 lead.
Saint Mary cut into OU's lead with a run in the top of the fifth, 22-1. Ottawa earned that run back in the bottom of the fifth. Franz connected on his second home run of the game, giving OU a 23-1 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Jesus Rodriguez hit a home run to left on a 1-2 count and the Braves took the lead and the game, 24-1.
