Ottawa, KAN. - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team got their first win of the season as they defeated (RV) St. Thomas by a score of 15-9 on Tuesday afternoon at AdventHealth Field.
St. Thomas scored the first goal of the game, but Ottawa scored the next three goals and never surrendered the lead after that. The Braves lead 5-2 after the first quarter and 7-6 at halftime. Ottawa scored the first two goals of the second half, and lead 11-7 after the third quarter. Ottawa used a 4-2 fourth quarter to solidify their 15-9 win.
Curstin Brown led Ottawa with five goals,
Faith Ruoff scored three.
Makayla Mason and
Ashlyn Lopez scored two each, and
KaiAnna Senne,
Brianna Valadao, and
Isabella Pagliei scored one goal each. Mason and Valadao made two assists each, Ruoff,
Lilliana Lopez, and
Joslynn Erskine made one apiece.
Shelby Bearden made 13 saves in goal. As a team, Ottawa was 21 for 23 in clear attempts, and turned St. Thomas over 20 times.
Ottawa (1-3, 0-0 HAAC) takes the field again on Thursday, March 6 as they host Midland University for their first ever Heart Conference game. That game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
