OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team defeated (RV) Morningside University 3-0; 25-22, 25-23, 25-20; on Saturday afternoon in the Mabee Center.
How it Happened
- With set one tied, 18-18, Ottawa reeled off three straight points to take a 21-18 lead. Morningside scored the next point to cut OU's lead to 21-18. A kill by Petar Lazic and a MU attacking error gave the Braves a 23-19 lead. The Mustangs scored the next three points, cutting OU's lead to 23-22. Ottawa answered by scoring the next two points, back-to-back kills by Lazic, to take a 25-22 victory.
- Ottawa raced out to the early lead in set two. A block by Akeil Williams and Marko Zolnjan gave OU the 7-3 advantage over Morningside. A Macort Pickup service ace pushed the OU lead to 14-10. The Mustangs rallied, cutting OU's lead to 19-18. The teams exchanged points and after a Kadeem Morris kill, OU had the 22-20 advantage. Morningside answered with three straight points to take a 23-22 lead over the Braves. Ottawa tied the set on the next point, a Lazic kill, 23-23. The Braves did not allow the Mustangs to score another point in the set. Marko Zolnjan's kill gave OU a 24-23 lead. The Braves took the victory on the next point, a kill by Lazic, 25-23.
- The Braves opened set three with a 6-1 lead. Two straight kills by Zolnjan increased the OU lead to 16-10. Morningside chipped away at the Brave lead and were within 23-20. Ottawa ended the set on kill by Williams and a MU attacking error, taking the 25-20 victory.
