OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University softball team split its double header with (RV) Grand View University on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Park. The Braves fell 9-7 in game one but took game two 10-2, in five innings.
Game One
Grand View scored one run in the top of the second and three in the top of the third to take a 4-0 lead over the Braves. Ottawa earned one of those runs back in the bottom of the third.
Davanie Medina singled to second and then moved to third with a bunt single by
Megan Kennedy. Medina was able to come home on the throw and the Braves trailed 4-1.
After a scoreless fourth and fifth inning, a total of eight runs were scored in the sixth. Grand View pushed three runs across home plate in the top of the sixth to take a 7-1 lead. OU answered in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits and was within 7-6 of the Vikings.
Grand View scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh, taking a 9-6 lead. Ottawa attempted to rally in the bottom of the seventh. Alex Genty's sacrifice fly to left scored
Katie Enneking and OU was within 9-7. The Braves, however, were unable to complete the comeback and GVU took the 9-7 victory.

Game Two
Ottawa scored first, talking the lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Kara Hafenstine led OU off with a single to third and then advanced to second on a stolen base.
Macy Roever's bunt single moved Hafenstine to third where she was able to score and OU led 1-0. Roever stole second and third, giving OU a runner 60 feet from home.
Addison Spencer scored Roever with a double to center and OU led 2-0.
Katie Enneking's double to center scored Spencer, giving the Braves a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second, the OU offense scored six runs on five hits and two errors to take a 9-0 lead. Grand View cut into the Brave lead with two runs in the top of the third, 9-2.
The Braves increased their lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth, putting the run rule in play. Enneking singled to center and then moved to second on a walk by
Emma Melvin.
Zoe Butts scored her with a double to center and OU led 10-2.
Grand View had two reach base in the top of the fifth but OU was able to stop them from scoring to take the 10-2 victory.
