YORK, Neb. – The Ottawa University softball team swept York University on Thursday afternoon, winning both games in five innings. OU won game one, 12-3 and game two, 21-6.
Macy Roever set the school record for single season stolen bases in game one and now has 50 stolen bases for the season.
Game One
Ottawa struck first, taking the lead in the top of the first inning.
Kara Hafenstine doubled and then moved to third on a bunt single by
Macy Roever. Roever moved to second on a stolen base, tying the school record, and
Addison Spencer walked, loading the bases.
Emma Melvin's sacrifice fly scored Hafenstine, giving OU a 1-0 lead. The Braves scored two more runs in the inning, taking advantage of an error by the Panthers and Ottawa had a 3-0 lead.
York cut into the Brave lead with two runs in the bottom of the first, 3-2. After a scoreless second inning, the Panthers scored one run in the bottom of the third to tie the game 3-3.
OU answered with five runs in the top of the fourth.
Katie Enneking walked and then moved to third on a double to left-center by
Zoe Butts.
Megan Kennedy's single to right scored Enneking and Butts to give the Braves a 5-3 lead. Roever singled to left-center, scoring Kennedy, increasing the lead to 6-3. Spencer's single up the middle scored
Camryn Lenz, giving the Braves a 7-3 lead. Melvin scored the final run of the inning for OU with a single to right and OU led 8-3.
The Braves pushed four more runs across home plate in the top of the fifth. Davanie Medina singled to right and moved to third on a double by Butts. A wild pitch scored Medina and OU led 9-3. Lenz singled to right, scoring Butt and the Braves had a 10-3 lead. Hafenstine's triple down the right field line scored Lenz and the Braves took the lead 11-3. Roever's bunt singled scored Hafenstine, giving OU the lead and the game, 12-3.
Inside the Box Score
- Zoe Butts and Macy Roever finished the game with three hits apiece. Butts hit three doubles and scored two runs. Roever had two stolen bases, two RBI, and scored two runs.

Game Two
Ottawa scored six runs in the top of the first to take the early lead.
Macy Roever singled and then stole second.
Addison Spencer's single to left moved Roever 60 feet from home.
Emma Melvin scored
Roever with a ground out to second, giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.
Katie Enneking's triple to right scored Spencer, increasing the Braves 2-0. Davanie Medina followed that with a double to left, scoring Enneking to give OU a 3-0 lead.
Zoe Butts' double to left scored Medina and the Braves had a 4-0 lead. Another double by the Braves, this one by
Megan Kennedy, scoring Butts and OU had a 5-0 lead.
Camryn Lenz's single to first, scored Kennedy, giving OU a 6-0 lead.
York answered with four runs in the bottom of the first to cut the OU lead to 6-4. The Braves responded with eight runs in the top of the second, taking a 14-4 lead. York cut into the Brave lead with a run in the bottom of the second, 14-5.
In the top of the third, the Braves pushed three more runs across home plate.
Megan Kennedy reached first on an infield single. Lenz singled, moving Kennedy to third. A throwing error by the YU second baseman scored Kennedy to give OU a 15-5 lead.
Kara Hafenstine's sacrifice fly to center scored Lenz and the Braves had a 16-5 lead. Spencer drove in the final run of the inning for the Braves with a single to left, giving OU a 17-5 lead.
The Braves scored two more runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 21-5 lead. York scored a run in the bottom of the fifth and the Braves took a 21-6 victory.
