Women's Flag Football Upends William Woods, 39-0

FAYETTE, Mo. – The Ottawa University women's flag football team defeated William Woods University, 39-0 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.  Alyssa Linkous had 202 receiving yards in the game. That total is the second most all-time in program history behind her own 213 receiving yard against Midland University in 2021.

William Woods received the ball to start the game, and the OU defense forced a three and out. It only took one play for the Braves to get into the end zone. Madysen Carrera connected on a 36 yard touchdown pass to Alyssa Linkous and the Braves led 6-0 at the 9:06 mark in the first quarter.

Ottawa increased its lead in the second quarter. Carrera threw a 14 yard touchdown pass to Linkous and the Braves had a 12-0 lead. The OU defense kept William Woods out of the end zone ending the half on a seven yard sack by Susann Kaufmann and Ottawa took a 12-0 lead into the locker room.

In the third quarter the OU offense exploded for 20 points to take a 32-0 lead into the fourth quarter. Ottawa scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter and the Braves took a 39-0 victory.

  • Ottawa finished the game with 392 yards of offense, 385 yard passing and seven yards rushing. William Woods had 180 yards of offense, 187 yards passing and negative seven yards rushing.
