OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-1; 25-19, 25-27, 21-25, 19-25; to UHSP on Friday night in Wilson Field House.
How it Happened
- The Braves took the early 6-4 lead over UHSP in set one. A block by Akeil Williams gave OU a 10-7 lead. The Eutectics chipped away at the Ottawa lead and were within 15-14. A service error by UHSP and a block by Williams and Horia Filpisan gave OU a 17-14 lead. Ottawa never surrendered its lead, and the Braves took the 25-19 victory.
- Ottawa led for most of set two. The Eutectics staged a comeback. With the set tied, 20-20, UHSP scored the next two points to take a 22-20 lead. Ottawa answered with two straight point, tying the set on a UHSP attacking error. The teams exchanged points, and the set was tied 25-25. Ottawa was unable to close out the set to get the victory. The Eutectics scored the next two points, taking the 27-25 victory.
- With OU trailing, 17-16, UHSP scored the next two points to take a 19-16 lead. After a Brave timeout, Marko Zolnjan's kill put OU within 19-17. The Braves tried to rally, cutting the deficit to 22-21. The Eutectics answered by scoring the final three points of the set, taking the 25-21 victory.
- Ottawa had a 10-9 lead over the Eutectics in set four. UHSP rallied, scoring the next four points to take a 13-10 lead over the Braves. OU was unable to respond and UHSP took the 25-19 victory.
