MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team defeated Central Chrisitan College on Saturday afternoon, 3-0; 25-20, 25-17, 25-19.
How it Happened
- Ottawa raced out to the early lead and after a kill by Macort Pickup, led 10-4. The Braves continued to hold their lead. A Tiger attacking error increased the OU lead to 16-9. CCC tried to rally, cutting OU's lead to 24-20. Ottawa took the set on the next point, a kill by Leo Betin, 25-20.
- OU took an 11-5 lead over CCC in set two. A kill by Petar Lazic gave the Braves a 14-8 lead. The Tigers rallied, cutting OU's lead to 18-16. Ottawa responded by scoring the next five points, increasing its lead to 23-16 on a kill by Kadeem Morris. OU never surrendered its lead, taking the 25-17 victory.
- Central Christian led 7-5 in set three. A kill by Lazic, an Akiel Williams' block, and a Betin service ace gave the Braves an 8-7 lead. Ottawa increased its lead over the Tigers and after back-to-back kills by Morris, OU had a 15-12 lead. The Tigers did not go away and tied the set at 17 all. Ottawa responded with five straight points, taking a 22-17 lead on a Williams' kill. The Braves did not allow CCC to rally and OU took the 25-19 victory.
