OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's soccer team opened up their season with a neutral result as they tied Central Methodist by a score of 1-1 on Friday afternoon at AdventHealth Field.
Ottawa wasted no time scoring, with
Antonio Natalucci converting a penalty he drew himself in the third minute. Ottawa drew a second penalty in the first half, but that was saved by Central Methodist. The Eagles tied the game up in the 26th minute with an open play goal. Both teams had their chances, including Central Methodist believing they had a 90th minute goal that was called offsides, but neither team could convert.
Ottawa outshot Central Methodist in both overall and shots on goal, 16 to 3 and 8 to 1, respectively.
Ottawa (0-0-1, 0-0-0 KCAC) continues their season on Tuesday, August 26 as they host Missouri Baptist University at AdventHealth Field. That match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
