Ottawa won its second straight game, defeating Sterling College 51-20. It was OU's first road win over the Warriors since Oct. 6, 2018 when the Braves won the game 48-47. Ottawa had 427 yards of offense to Sterling's 327. OU has a record of 2-1.
Teagan Flynn finished the game with 6.5 sacks, setting a new school record. Because of his efforts he was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
As a team, the Braves had 11 team sacks. That mark ties the school record. The last time OU had 11 sacks was on Oct. 31, 2009. The Ottawa defense sacked the KWU quarterback 11 times.
Cody Presley had a 39 yard fumble return for a touchdown in OU's 51-20 win over Sterling last weekend. The last time the Braves returned a fumble for a touchdown happened on Nov. 23, 2023 in a 31-28 loss to Tabor College.
Christian Obregon returned the ball 89 yards for the touchdown.
The OU offense is averaging 329.3 yards of offense per game, 80.7 yards rushing and 248.7 yards passing. The Braves are scoring 24 points per game. Opponents are averaging 287.3 yards of offense per game, 400 yards rushing and 154 yards passing, and average 20.3 points per game.
Ottawa is ranked 39th in the NAIA in scoring (72), 33rd in total offense (988), 19th in passing yards (746), 29th in passing yards per game (248.7), 49th in passing touchdowns (3), 49th in rushing attempts (81), 26th in rushing touchdowns (5), 30th in first downs (54), 14th in recovered fumblers (3), and fifth in sacks (12).
Luke Edwards leads the Braves in passing. He is 58-for-93 through the air for 726 yards and three touchdowns. He is completing 62.4 percent of his passes and has only thrown one interception. Edwards is averaging 242 passing yards per game.
Anthony Powell is OU's leader in rushing yards. He has 121 yards on 19 attempts for a 6.4 yard per carry average.
De'Anthony Curtis leads OU in receptions with 17. He has 310 receiving yards, is averaging 103.3 receiving yards per game, and has two touchdown receptions.
Brandon Doles is OU's leader in tackles with 17. He has 3.5 sacks, one pass break up, and one recovered fumble.
Ethan Yinger is second on the team in tackles with 16.

Saturday is the 72nd game between Ottawa University and Southwestern College. OU leads the series 37-31-3 but Southwestern is on a five game winning streak against the Braves. The last time OU defeated SWC was on Sept. 7, 2019. OU won the game 35-34. Ottawa has lost three straight to Southwestern in Ottawa. The last time the Braves won in Ottawa against the Moundbuilders was on Oct. 27, 2018. OU won the game, 41-24. OU is 22-17 against SWC in Ottawa. The first ever meeting between Ottawa and Southwestern was on Nov. 22, 1909 in Winfield. The game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Southwestern is 2-1 to start the 2025 season. The Moundbuilders fell last Saturday to (RV) Evangel University 35-25 in Winfield. In the loss to the Valor, SWC had 473 yards of offense, 399 passing and 74 rushing. Evangel finished with 384 yards of offense, 111 yards passing and 273 yards rushing.
The Moundbuilders are averaging 511.3 yards of offense per game, 194 yards rushing and 317.3 yards passing. They are scoring 38 points per game. SWC's defense is allowing 302.3 yards of offense per game, 459 yards rushing and 149.3 yards passing. Opponents are scoring 21 points per game.
