LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Ottawa men's soccer team began their conference schedule deadlocked as they played Saint Mary to a 4-4 tie on Wednesday evening in Leavenworth.
Ottawa opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and then added to their lead again in the 21st minute as
Simon Kindt scored his first goal for Ottawa. Antonion Natalucci added to the lead in the 28th minute, before Saint Mary cut that lead with a 31st minute goal.
Felipe Padierna scored a goal in the 38th minute via a penalty kick, making the score 4-1 in favor of Ottawa going into halftime. After halftime, Saint Mary scored goals in the 48th, 78th, and 88th minutes to salvage a tie.
Ottawa outshot Saint Mary 18 to 15 in total shots and 11 to seven in shots on goal.
David Martinez made three saves in goal for the Braves.
Ottawa (1-1-4, 0-0-1 KCAC) returns to the field on Saturday, September 20 as they host Bethel College at AdventHealth Field. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
