OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's soccer team picked up their first KCAC victory of the season in fashion as they beat Bethel College by a score of 10-2 on Saturday evening at AdventHealth Field.
Bethel scored the first goal of the game, with Aden Braggs netting a 15th minute goal.
Alonso Basauri knotted things back up in the 19th minute via a free kick goal from 25 yards out, and
Arminas Gecas gave Ottawa their first lead of the day with a 22nd minute goal assisted by Basauri. In the 26th minute, Braggs scored once again for the Threshers, tying the game up at two goals apiece. Ottawa got the lead back in the 31st minute when
Simon Kindt found
Antonio Natalucci on a cross, and the lead stayed with the Braved the rest of the way. Matis Mazieres scored his first collegiate goal in the 39th minute, assited by
Khalil Al Harthi, and
Antonio Natalucci bagged his second goal of the game in the 43rd minute off an assist by
Simon Kindt. Going into the break, Ottawa led five goals to two.
Jevan Purcell-Jackson got the Braves another goal in the 50th minute via a penalty kick, and
Alonso Basauri scored his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute. Natalucci secured a hat trick in the 61st minute, once again assisted by Basauri.
Martin Basso and
Jevan Purcell-Jackson added a pair of penalty kick goal in the 72nd and 76th minute to see the game out.
Ottawa led total shots 28 to six and shots on goal 15 to three.
Nicolo Cinelli made one save in goal for Ottawa after coming in in the 71st minute. The Braves' ten goals scored marks the fourth time they have done so under
James Cottage, all coming since 2023.
Ottawa (2-1-4, 1-0-1 KCAC) returns to the field on Wednesday, September 24 as they host (5) Oklahoma Wesleyan University at AdventHealth Field. That game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM.
