Men's Basketball is on the Road at (6) OKWU on Wednesday

The Braves are 9-7 overall, have a record of 5-5 in the KCAC, are on a one game winning streak, and have a road record of 5-2. 

Ottawa snapped its two game losing streak with an 85-80 victory over Tabor College last Saturday in Wilson Field House. OU shot 41.1 percent from the floor and 85.2 percent from the free throw line. The Braves also had the rebounding edge over the Bluejays, 49-32. Elijah Mason scored a career high 27 points in the victory and was one rebound away from a double-double, finishing with nine. 

This season, OU is averaging 79.9 points, 36.6 rebounds, and 12 assists per game. Ottawa is shooting 45.7 percent from the floor, 34.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 74.6 percent from the free throw line. 

Rich Martelly leads Ottawa in scoring (13.6) and steals (1.6) per game. Jackson Harding is the team's leader in rebounding (6.3). Landyn Tyler leads the Braves in assists (2.9) and Kuol Reech is OU's leader in blocks (0.6) per game. 

Ottawa is ranked 34th in the NAIA in free throw percentage (.746) and 44th in opponent 3-pt field goal percentage (.308).

Wednesday marks the 31st meeting between Ottawa University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University and the 13th time the two programs have faced off with OKWU ranked in the NAIA Coaches Poll. It is also the 10th matchup in the series with the Eagles ranked among the nation's top 10. Ottawa holds a 3–9 record against OKWU when the Eagles are ranked in the NAIA Top 25. Oklahoma Wesleyan leads the all-time series 21–9 and enters Wednesday riding a 10 game winning streak over the Braves. Ottawa's last victory over the Eagles came on Dec. 17, 2020, with a 99–83 win at Wilson Field House. The Braves have dropped 11 straight games at Mueller Sports Center, with their last road win over OKWU coming on Dec. 1, 2016, by a score of 76–68.

OU is 5-2 on the road this season, averaging 81.9 points per game. Away from Wilson Field House, Ottawa is shooting 45.7 percent from the floor, 34.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 71.9 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are scoring 79.1 points per game and shooting 44 percent from the floor, 23.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.2 percent from the free throw line. 

The Braves have four players scoring in double figures on the road. Micah Willis is scoring 16.1 points per game and shooting 56.8 percent from the floor and 52.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line. Rich Martlelly is scoring 13 points per game and shooting 45.9 percent from the floor. Landyn Tyler is averaging 12.7 points per game and shooting 49.2 percent from the floor. Elijah Mason, only starting two games on the road this season out of seven, is scoring 10 points and pulling down six rebounds per game. 

Oklahoma Wesleyan University has an overall record of 14-2, a 9-1 mark in the KCAC, is on a four game winning streak, and has a record of 7-1 in the Mueller Sports Center this season. As of Jan. 13, the Eagles are ranked no. 6 in the NAIA Poll. 

OKWU's only loss in KCAC play came on Dec. 13 at home against Bethel College, 61-58. The Eagles enter Wednesday's game coming off a last second victory over (14) Friends University, 71-70 in Mueller. 

Temaje Izuagbe leads OKWU in scoring (18.2), rebounding (6.2), and blocks (0.9) per game. Ethan Williams is the Eagles' leader in assists (3.5), and Jaden Wilson leads the team in steals (1.9) per game. 

The Eagles are ranked 30th in the NAIA in offensive rebounds per game (12.9), 18th in opponent defensive rebounds per game (21.6), 21st in opponent total rebounds per game (30.6), 50th in rebound margin (4.9), 43rd in assists per game (16.2), fifth in opponent turnovers per game (19.1), fifth in steals per game (11.9), third in opponent blocked shots per game (1.7), 45th in net efficiency (1.077), and 49th in opponent personal fouls per game (18.4). 

In their eight home games this season, the Eagles are scoring 81.4 points per game and shooting 46.7 percent from the floor, 31.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 67.1 percent from the free throw line.
