Women's Basketball Travels South to OKWU on Wednesday

The Braves are 9-7 overall, have a record of 4-6 in the KCAC, are on a one game winning streak and have a mark of 3-5 on the road this season. Ottawa's nine wins equals its win total from last season (2024-25). 

Ottawa swept the season series against Tabor College, defeating the Bluejays 67-61 in Wilson Field House last Saturday. It is the first time since the 1999-2000 season that OU has swept Tabor. 

OU averages 13 points less per game on the road (69.4) than it does at home (82.4). On the road this season, Ottawa is shooting 38.2 percent from the floor, 25.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 74.6 percent from the free throw line. The Braves are 3-5 on the road and have lost four straight road games. OU's last road victory came on Nov. 25 at Cottey College in Nevada, Mo. Ottawa won the game 75-40. The Braves last KCAC road win was on Nov. 19 in Hillsboro, Kan. against Tabor College, 64-57. 

Ottawa is led in scoring by McKinley Kruger (11.2), assists (2.4), and steals (1.6) per game. Aaliyah Brown leads OU in rebounding (7.3) and Ashlynn Arnsman is the team's leader in blocks (0.6) per game. 

Ottawa's freshmen continue to contribute. The Braves play six freshmen 13 or more minutes per game. They are also averaging 52.3 percent of OU's scoring: Kiana Hostetler (4.4), McKinley Kruger (11.2), Molly Martin (6.9), Clare Williams (7.3), Hailey Raderman (5.8), Allison Daniels (4.1).

Wednesday is the 27th game between Ottawa University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. OKWU leads the series 15-11 and are on a two game winning streak against the Braves. OU's last win over the Eagles was on Jan. 31, 2024 in Wilson Field House, 69-62. Ottawa is 5-8 in Bartlesville against Oklahoma Wesleyan. OU lost last season's game in the Mueller Sports Center, 69-58, on Feb. 13 to give OKWU a one game home winning streak against the Braves. Ottawa's last win in Mueller was on Nov. 18, 2023 in double overtime, 73-68. The first ever game between the two teams was on Jan. 13, 1986 in Wilson Field House. The Eagles won the game 73-59. OKWU won both games last season. The Eagles took an 86-80 overtime victory over the Braves on Jan. 15 and won 69-58 in Mueller on Feb. 13. 

This season, Ottawa is averaging 75.9 points, 41.9 rebounds, and 15.5 assists per game. The Braves are shooting 40.3 percent from the floor, 30.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 71.6 percent from the free throw line. 

The Braves are ranked 48th in the NAIA in scoring (1,214), 42nd in point points per game (75.9), 48th in field goals made per game (27.5), 22nd in field goals attempted per game (68.3), 16th in 3-pt field goals made per game (9.1), 12th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (30.1), 25th in offensive rebounds per game (15.4), 43rd in opponent offensive rebounds per game (9.6), 40th in rebound margin per game (6.1), 49th in assists per game (15.5), 26th in turnovers per game (13.8), 30th in opponent steals per game (6.9), and 36th in offensive efficiency (1.012).

Oklahoma Wesleyan University has an overall record of 5-11, a KCAC mark of 1-9, is on a four game losing streak, and has a record of 3-4 inside of the Mueller Sports Center. OKWU's last victory was on Dec. 16 in a non-conference game in Bartlesville against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, 66-45. OKWU enters Wednesday's game coming off a 69-61 loss to Friends University

The Eagles have lost three straight KCAC games. Their last victory over a KCAC opponent was on Dec. 10, at home against Southwestern College, 78-67. 

This season OKWU is averaging 59.8 points, 30.1 rebounds, and 11.6 assists per game. The Eagles are shooting 38.6 percent from the floor, 27.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 81.1 percent from the free throw line. 

Gracie Alexander leads OKWU in scoring (13.9), blocks (0.4), and steals (1.8) per game. Khassidy Warr is OKWU's leader in rebounding (6.4) per game. Taliyah Harris leads the team in assists (2.8) per game. 

OKWU is ranked second in the NAIA in free throw percentage (.811), sixth in opponent offensive rebounds per game (7.7), 19th in opponent total rebounds per game (32.1), 21st in turnovers per game (13.6), 18th in opponent steals per game (6.7), 26th in personal fouls per game (14.4), and 48th in offensive efficiency (0.946). 

In their seven home games, the Eagles are scoring 60.9 points and shooting 42.2 percent from the floor, 25.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 82.7 percent from the free throw line.
