Baseball Takes Down (10) British Columbia, 5–2, in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Ottawa University baseball earned a 5–2 victory over (10) University of British Columbia on Thursday evening at ACU Baseball Field, using timely hitting, strong pitching, and capitalizing on defensive miscues to improve to 2–0 on the season.

Ottawa struck first in the opening inning as Jalen Ryan reached on an error and later scored on an RBI groundout by Julius Ryan, giving the Braves an early 1–0 advantage.

British Columbia answered in the second inning when Waters delivered an RBI single to even the score at 1–1.

The game remained tied until the sixth inning, when Ottawa broke through. After putting runners on base, Declan Brown delivered the key hit of the night, lining a two-run single to right field to plate Jose Lopez and Julius Ryan, pushing the Braves ahead 3–1.

British Columbia trimmed the deficit in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double from Warrillow, but Ottawa's bullpen shut the door from there.

In the eighth inning, Jose Vega extended the lead with an RBI single to right-center, scoring Julius Ryan. The Braves added an insurance run in the ninth when Jalan Ryan reached on a throwing error, allowing Alejandro Paz to cross the plate and make it 5–2.

On the mound, Kiene Prendez delivered a solid start, working 5.2 innings while allowing two runs and striking out five. Nicolas Docherty earned the win in relief, while Caden Gray picked up the save with two shutout innings to close the game.
