WICHITA, Kan. - The Ottawa University women's basketball team dropped a 79–61 decision on the road to (RV) Friends University Saturday afternoon at the Garvey Center.
First Quarter
Friends jumped out quickly, scoring the game's first seven points and opening up a double-digit lead midway through the quarter. Ottawa responded with baskets from
Aaliyah Brown and
Dominique Schutte, but Friends' shooting and offensive rebounding proved difficult to contain. Friends closed the period on a run to take a 25–11 lead after one.
Second Quarter
Ottawa settled in defensively and began to find more offensive rhythm in the second quarter.
McKinley Kruger converted in the paint, while
Alison Daniels and
Molly Martin provided scoring off turnovers and from beyond the arc. Despite Ottawa outscoring Friends 15–14 over the final five minutes of the half, Friends maintained control and went into the break with a 40–26 advantage.
Third Quarter
The Braves opened the third quarter with energy, stringing together baskets from
Clare Williams,
Aaliyah Brown, and Kruger to cut into the deficit. Ottawa pulled within 10 points midway through the period, but Friends answered with timely baskets and a late three-pointer to regain momentum. Friends held a 59–40 lead heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Ottawa continued to compete in the final quarter, using strong interior play and second-chance points to chip away. Schutte knocked down a three, Brown finished multiple possessions in the paint, and Martin added another triple as the Braves made a late push. Friends, however, responded with efficient scoring and sealed the game at the free-throw line, closing out the 79–61 victory.
