OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's lacrosse team opened their season with a loss as they were defeated by (7) William Penn by a score of __ on Monday afternoon at AdventHealth Field.

William Penn scored quickly and often, with their first goal coming just seconds after winning the opening faceoff. The Statesmen scored 14 goals in the first quarter, ten in the second, five in the third, but did not score in the fourth quarter, all while holding Ottawa scoreless.

Harley Williams led all scorers with nine goals and one assist, Garrett Katrana made seven assists for seven points. In total, William Penn had nine players score goals. William Penn led total shots 54 to eight, and shots on goal 41 to four. Ottawa was 7-33 on faceoffs and 5-25 in clear attempts.

Ottawa (0-1, 0-0 HAAC) returns to the field on Saturday, February 21 as they host (RV) Benedictine College at AdventHealth Field at 4:00 PM.
