SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Down four runs the Ottawa University baseball team flipped the script with a ruthless final two innings, erupting for seven unanswered runs to stun the Evangel University 13–10 at University Field.
First Inning
Ottawa wasted no time.
Julius Ryan opened the scoring with an RBI single, and another run crossed on a wild pitch for a 2–0 lead. Evangel answered with three in the bottom half.
Third Inning
Trailing 4–2, Ottawa answered immediately.
Julius Ryan delivered again with an RBI single, and a productive out tied it at 4–4. Evangel countered with two homers in the bottom half to retake control, 7–4.
Fifth Inning
Dylan Snead ignited the offense, swiping bags and scoring on
Jeremy Freeman, Jr.'s RBI triple. A sac fly trimmed the deficit to 7–6. Evangel answered and pushed it to 10–6 after five.
Sixth & Seventh
Caden Gray and
Ben Hewitt combined to shut the door. Gray struck out four in two innings, and Hewitt (W, 4-0) was electric — two perfect frames with four strikeouts to keep Ottawa within striking distance.
Eighth Inning
Freeman ripped a two-run double to center to make it 10–8. Moments later,
Julius Ryan crushed a two-run double down the right-field line. Tie game. Momentum fully flipped.
Ninth Inning
After a pinch-hit single, Snead delivered the dagger — a go-ahead RBI triple to right-center. A passed ball plated another. Ju. Ryan added insurance with yet another RBI double.
From 10–6 down… to 13–10 up.
