WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team opened their Florida trip with a loss as they were defeated by (5) Keiser by a score of 21-4 on Friday afternoon in West Palm Beach.
Keiser took the lead early and never surrendered it, scoring the first eleven goals and leading 10-0 after the first quarter. Ottawa got on the board in the second quarter with a pair of
Rilee Barnett goals, but Keiser would lead 12-2 going into halftime. The Seahawks capped off their victory with 5-1 and 4-1 third and fourth periods.
Rilee Barnett led Ottawa with two goals,
Ashlyn Lopez and
Curstin Brown scored one goal each.
Saniya Watt made five saves in goal for the Braves.
Keiser led total shots 31 to 14 and shots on goal 22 to eight. The Seahawks collected 21 ground balls to Ottawa's eleven, and led draw controls 16 to eight. Keiser was 9-14 in clear attempts, Ottawa was 8-16. Ottawa scored two of their three free position shots, Keiser scored three of their four.
Ottawa (0-3, 0-0 HAAC) returns to the field on Sunday, March 1 as they travel to Miami Gardens, Florida for a game at (RV) St. Thomas University. That game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM Eastern/3:00 PM Central.
