(RV) Women's Lacrosse Drops Road Game to (RV) St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Ottawa women's lacrosse team was defeated once again as they fell to (RV) St. Thomas by a score of 16-10 on Sunday afternoon in Miami Gardens.

The game started evenly, with St. Thomas leading 4-3 after the first quarter. The Bobcats started to pull away in the second period, outscoring Ottawa 4-1 for an 8-4 halftime lead. Ottawa scored the first goal out of the break to cut St. Thomas' lead to three, but The Bobcats scored the next five goals. The Braves had their own run after that, scoring four in a row and cutting St. Thomas' lead to as little as four, but the Bobcats would stifle that rally with three of the final four goals of the game.

Rilee Barnett led Ottawa in scoring with four goals, Ashlyn Lopez scored three. Faith Ruoff scored two, KaiAnna Senne scored one. Brianna Valadao and Curstin Brown made two assists each, Makayla Mason and Senne made one apiece. Saniya Watt made ten saves in goal for the Braves.

St. Thomas narrowly led total shots 30 to 29, and led shots on goal 22 to 14. The Bobcats led groundballs 22 to 17, but were beat out by Ottawa in draw controls, who led that stat 19 to nine. St. Thomas was 20 for 30 in clear attempts, Ottawa was 11 for 18.

Ottawa (0-4, 0-0 HAAC) returns to the field on Tuesday, March 3 as they finish their road trip with a game at Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM Eastern/12:00 PM Central.
