OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa University baseball team battled through 17 total innings Saturday at Alumni Park, splitting a doubleheader with Southwestern College. The Braves fell in an 11-inning heartbreaker in game one before responding with a 10-0 shutout in game two.
Game 1: Southwestern 9, Ottawa 8 (11 innings)
Ottawa jumped out early, but couldn't hold off a late rally as Southwestern evened the series opener in extra innings.
The Braves plated four runs in the first and added two-run frames in both the fourth and fifth innings to build an 8-2 advantage. However, Southwestern chipped away and tied the game with a four-run eighth before pushing across the go-ahead run in the 11th.
