MESQUITE, Texas — Ottawa University's softball team used timely power at the plate and a dominant pitching performance to earn a 5–0 shutout over Missouri Baptist University on Saturday morning.
Ottawa struck early and never looked back, scoring in each of the first four innings while limiting Missouri Baptist to just six hits on the day.
Braxton Stainbrook provided the offensive spark with two home runs, while
Lanie Becker was sharp in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout.
The Braves opened the scoring in the first inning when Stainbrook launched a two-run homer to center field. Ottawa added another run in the second on an RBI single from CeCe Mora, then extended the lead in the third as Stainbrook homered again, this time to left field. Becker capped the scoring in the fourth with an RBI double to right center.
Missouri Baptist threatened at times but could not break through, leaving seven runners on base as Ottawa's defense and pitching held firm throughout the seven innings.
