Baseball Takes Two More from Missouri Valley

OTTAWA, Kan. - Ottawa University baseball turned in a complete day at Alumni Park, rolling past Missouri Valley College in both games of Sunday's doubleheader. Braves powered their way to a 17-2 win in game one before securing a 9-3 victory in game two.

Game One: Ottawa 17, Missouri Valley 2
Ottawa wasted no time in the opener, erupting for four runs in the bottom of the first and never looking back. The Braves scored in six different innings and took advantage of Missouri Valley miscues, pairing timely hitting with aggressive baserunning.

Dylan Snead set the tone at the top of the lineup, while Jeremy Freeman, Jr., Jose Lopez, and Kaiden Hoapili all delivered extra-base hits. Ottawa broke the game open with a four-run fourth and a five-run fifth, then added three more in the sixth to put the contest away early.

On the mound, Josh Ashen earned the win, allowing just one hit over four shutout innings. The bullpen closed the door the rest of the way as Ottawa limited Missouri Valley to four hits.

Game two followed a similar script early, as Ottawa jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to aggressive baserunning and pressure that forced Missouri Valley into mistakes. The Braves continued to add on, scoring in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Jeremy Freeman, Jr. was once again a catalyst, driving in four runs, while Alejandro Paz delivered a highlight moment with a solo home run in the fifth. Ottawa's pitching staff kept Missouri Valley quiet until a three-run seventh, but the outcome was never in doubt.

Kenneth Johnson earned the win on the mound, throwing four shutout innings to anchor another strong team pitching effort.
