BALDWIN CITY, Kan. — The (1) Ottawa University women's flag football team remained unbeaten on Wednesday evening, defeating (4) Baker University 12-6 at Liston Stadium. The Braves scored twice in the third quarter and relied on a strong defensive effort to hold off a late Baker push.
After a scoreless first half, Ottawa broke through midway through the third quarter. Quarterback
Anna Anderson connected with
Alyssa Linkous on a 15-yard touchdown pass to cap an 11-play, 66-yard drive and give the Braves a 6-0 lead.
Ottawa struck again later in the quarter. Following a short drive, Anderson crossed the goal line on a 2-yard run with 34 seconds remaining in the third period, extending the Braves' lead to 12-0.
Baker attempted a comeback in the closing seconds of the game. Tara Llorente scored on a 5-yard run with nine seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Braves' defense prevented any further scoring to secure the victory.
