LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The (RV) Ottawa Braves showed grit and timely hitting on Wednesday, rallying late in game one before outslugging Saint Mary in game two to complete a doubleheader sweep, 5-3 and 12-8, in Leavenworth.
Game 1: Ottawa 5, Saint Mary 3
Ottawa leaned on clutch hitting and a steady performance in the circle to secure the opener.
After falling behind 2-1 in the second inning and later trailing 3-2 in the fifth, the Braves delivered when it mattered most. In the seventh, Ottawa plated three runs to flip the game. A two-RBI double from
Emma Melvin tied the game, and a sacrifice from
Braxton Stainbrook brought home the go-ahead run.
Lanie Becker went the distance, limiting Saint Mary to three runs while working through nine hits and keeping the Spires off the board over the final two innings.

Game 2: Ottawa 12, Saint Mary 8
After building a 2-1 lead, the Braves surrendered a six-run third inning and trailed 7-2. Ottawa immediately responded with a four-run fourth to get back within one, then took control for good in the sixth.
A two-RBI double from
Lanie Becker and an RBI double from
Cece Mora highlighted a three-run sixth inning that gave Ottawa a 10-8 lead.
Braxton Stainbrook added insurance with a two-run home run in the seventh.
The Braves' pitching staff settled in after the early damage, with
Cassi Rodgers tossing three scoreless innings to close it out.
