(RV) Softball Downs McPherson in Doubleheader Sweep

MCPHERSON, Kan. – (RV) Ottawa University put together a dominant all-around performance on Saturday, sweeping McPherson College in emphatic fashion with a 17-3 run-rule victory in game one followed by a 7-0 shutout in game two.

Game 1: Ottawa 17, McPherson 3 (6 inn.)
After briefly trailing early, Ottawa's offense erupted and never looked back, piling up 17 runs on 15 hits to overwhelm the Bulldogs.

McPherson jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning, but that advantage was short-lived. The Braves answered immediately, tying the game in the second on a two-RBI single from Brookelynn Becker before taking the lead for good in the third.

From there, it was all Ottawa. A two-run blast by Ashley Davis extended the lead, and the Braves continued to apply pressure with a steady stream of extra-base hits and timely hitting. Ottawa broke the game wide open in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs to enforce the run rule.

Abby Bellamy and Brookelynn Becker led a relentless offensive attack, combining for nine RBIs, while six different Braves drove in runs.

In the circle, Lanie Becker settled in after the first inning and earned the win, limiting McPherson to three runs across five innings.
