OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University women's flag football athletes,
Dejonice Parris and
Anna Anderson, have been named KCAC Women's Flag Football Players of the Week.
Parris, a 5-5 linebacker from Hollywood, Fla., was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week. In two games last week, only playing one half against Bethel College, Parris had 21 flag pulls with seven versus Bethel and 14 against (RV) Southwestern College. She broke the OU school record for flag pulls in a game with 14 against (RV) Southwestern. Parris also had a pick six in OU's 43-0 win over Moundbuilders on Saturday.
Anderson, a 5-5 freshman quarterback from Kansas City, Mo., earned KCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Playing only a game and a half last week, Anderson was 44-for-51 through the air for 486 yards and 10 touchdowns. She played the first half only against Bethel College. Anderson completed 86.2 percent of her passes for the week, 82.3 percent against Bethel and 88.2 percent versus (RV) Southwestern College. She also rushed six times for 49 yards. In the first half against Bethel, Anderson was 14-for-17 for 234 yards and five touchdowns. In OU's 43-0 win over (RV) Southwestern, Anderson was 30-for-34 for 252 yards and five touchdowns.
Ottawa returns to the field on Wednesday, March 11 in Baldwin City, Kan. against no. 4 Baker University. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
