OTTAWA, Kan. — (RV) Ottawa University delivered a complete performance on both sides of the ball Sunday afternoon, shutting out York University 10-0 behind dominant pitching and a late offensive surge at Alumni Park.
How it Happened
Ottawa wasted no time setting the tone. In the bottom of the first,
Jalen Ryan sparked the offense with a leadoff single and stolen base before
Julius Ryan drove him in with an RBI single for a 1-0 lead.
The Braves added on in the second as
Owen Powers delivered an RBI single to make it 2-0.
The third inning provided the early knockout punch—
Dylan Snead launched a solo home run, and
Jose Vega followed with a blast of his own to push the lead to 4-0.
While the offense steadily built the lead, Ottawa's pitching staff was in full command.
Kenneth Johnson worked six scoreless innings, working out of a few jams and keeping York off the scoreboard.
After a few quiet innings, the Braves offense erupted again late.
In the seventh, Snead doubled home a run and
Julius Ryan followed with another RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0.
