OTTAWA, Kan. – (RV) Ottawa University battled back to earn a split against (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Park, dropping game one before responding with a strong all-around performance in game two to secure the victory.
Game 1: Oklahoma Wesleyan 8, Ottawa 0
Ottawa threatened early but couldn't break through as Oklahoma Wesleyan pulled away late for the win.
The Braves put pressure on in the first and third innings, using aggressive base running to move runners into scoring position, but were unable to capitalize.
Cece Mora recorded Ottawa's lone hit of the game, and the Braves drew two walks while swiping multiple bases to try to generate offense.
Lanie Becker kept things scoreless through three innings, but Oklahoma Wesleyan broke through in the fourth with a solo home run and added another run later in the frame. The Eagles extended the lead in the fifth and sixth innings, taking advantage of a handful of Ottawa miscues to plate six unearned runs and put the game out of reach.
Game 2: Ottawa 5, Oklahoma Wesleyan 2
The Braves responded in a big way in game two, jumping out early and never looking back.
Abby Bellamy set the tone immediately, blasting a leadoff home run to give Ottawa a 1-0 advantage in the first inning. The Braves broke the game open in the third, stringing together hits and disciplined at-bats.

Braxton Stainbrook followed with a two-run single to extend the lead to 4-0.
Ottawa added another insurance run in the fourth when Bellamy delivered again with an RBI single, pushing the lead to 5-0.
In the circle,
Cesara Roque was outstanding. She went the distance, allowing just two runs—both unearned—on six hits while keeping Oklahoma Wesleyan off balance throughout the afternoon.
