LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - A small contingent of runners opened the 2026 season for Ottawa on Friday night at the Spire Sunset Showdown. Junior Brianna Valadao led the Braves with a 35th-place finish in the women's field, posting a time of 22:00.2 in the 5,000 meters. Daityn Webb clocked a time of 26:56.3 to finish 61st, while Ottawa's lone male runner Grant Migilcco posted a time of 36:35.9 over the 8,000 meter course.

Next up for Ottawa is the Queen City After Dark Run Presented by Fleet Feet, hosted by the Betty and Bobby Allison Sportstown in Springfield, Mo.
