Hinton spent two years as a member of the OU men's wrestling team. He was a 2014-15 NAIA All-American in the 141 pound weight class.

Northwest Kansas Technical College: Hinton earned two letters in wrestling at NKTC. He was a NJCAA National qualifier and earned Academic honors.

High School: Hinton was a three year letterman in wrestling for Carver Vo-Tech High School. He won the Maryland State Championship in double overtime with the take down.
