2022: Serna was named Second Team All-KCAC at left field in her first season in an OU uniform. She played in 45 games, making 44 starts. Serna hit .307, scored 15 runs, hit five doubles, one triple, drove in 16 runs, had a .368 slugging percentage, walked five times, was hit by a pitch four times, had a .346 on base percentage, and stole three bases.
Highland Community College: Serna helped HCC to a 2021 KJCCC championship, a Region V championship and a fifth place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. She was a Second Team All-KJCCC selection at first base and earned Second Team All-Region V honors. As a sophomore, Serna appeared in 54 games, had a .400 batting average, hit 13 home runs, drove in 46, scored 46 runs, and stole 11 bases. She had a .483 on base percentage and a .759 slugging percentage. In a shortened freshman season due to CoVID-19, Serna played in six games. She had a .267 batting average, a .353 on base percentage, and a .267 slugging percentage. Serna excelled in the classroom, earning First Team All-Academic Team honors in 2020 and 2021.
High School: Serna lettered in softball, basketball, and volleyball at Osage City High School. She helped the Indians to a 2019 league championship and a 2018 fourth place finish at the Kansas State Softball Tournament. Serna was a Second Team All-League selection in volleyball, and a four-time First Team All-Flint Hills League selection on the softball diamond.
Personal: Daughter of Tammy and Joe Serna … education major. She played travel ball for Team Kansas Elite under coach Lee Storrer. Serna’s mother and father both are OU alumni. Her mother, Tammy, played softball, earning Honorable Mention All-KCAC in 1996 and 1998. Her father, Joe, was a two-time First Team All-KCAC selection for the Braves. In 1998 he was named KCAC Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Region IV, and was named Honorable Mention NAIA All-American. Serna’s sister is playing softball at the University of Central Missouri.Â
