University of Texas - Tyler: Nelson was a member of the 2018 NCAA Division III National Champions. He appeared in four games in 2017, striking out four of the 19 batters faced.

Delgado Community College: Nelson helped DCC to a 2017 NJCAA Region 23 Championship.

Baton Rouge Community College: Nelson played one season at BRCC.

High School: Nelson lettered in baseball and football at Tioga High School. He was the District 3-4A MVP as a senior and helped the Indians win four straight district championships. Nelson earned All-Cenla honors three as a sophomore, junior and senior as a pitcher and third baseman and was an All-State selection as a utility player as a senior after earning honorable mention all-state the previous three years. He also earned Academic All-State honors and helped his team to the state semifinals during his career. Nelson was invited to the Team USA 2013 NTIS (National Identification Series).

Personal: Son of MIke Nelson and Julie Nelson ... business administration major. Nelson played travel ball for the Louisiana Legends under head coach Jerry Martinez. In 2017, he played in teh Texas Collegiate League for the Acadiana Cane Cutters. Nelson spent the summer of 2018 playing in the Prospect League for the Quincy Gems.
