Coach Gaul is in his first season as pitching coach for the OU baseball program.
Gaul spent the 2020 and the 2021 seasons as an assistant baseball coach at NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M. While at ENMU, Gaul organized all developmental aspects for the pitching staff, arranged travel, assisted with the recruitment and signing of student-athletes, managed the baseball facilities, worked with the student athletes in managing their class schedules and assisted with practice/game management of players in staff.Â
 Prior to his time at ENMU, Gaul was an assistant coach during the 2018 season at NJCAA Allen Community College in Iola, Kan. During his time at Allen Community College, Gaul assisted with the pitching staff operations, fundraising, recruiting, player development, and the organizing of fall camps and multiple high school tournaments.Â
Before his time at Allen, Gaul spent the 2017 season with the KCAC’s Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. Gaul was the Head Assistant Coach and helped guide the Warriors to a 37-18 record. Along with guiding the pitching staff, Gaul assisted with the weights/conditioning programs, recruiting, travel arrangements, academic progress of student-athletes and the daily scheduling of practices. His staff produced a 5.64 ERA in his first year of being a collegiate coach, which ranked third in the KCAC, and featured the KCAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year and the nation's third-highest save producer for the season. Â
Gaul gained experience coaching for the Kansas Cannons as head coach during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and as an assistant coach in 2021. He planned and prepared practices, implemented game management, and developed players.Â
Gaul played four years of NCAA Division II baseball, earning three letters at Newman University in Wichita, Kan. and finishing his career at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. He graduated from Newman with a bachelor of arts in biology with a minor in sports medicine. Gaul earned his master’s in sports administration from Henderson.
