Jonah Weisner

Coach Weisner is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach with the OU baseball program.
 
In the summer of 2023, Weisner played for the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the Western Canadian Baseball League. In 60 games played Weisner posted a .400 batting average, .485 on base percentage, .583 slugging percentage, with (6) homeruns, (15) doubles, and (5) triples. He finished with (94) hits, (48) runs scored, and a league leading (53) runs batted in. Weisner was a WCBL West divisional All-Star selection where he claimed the WCBL West Division batting title upon completing the regular season.
 
Defensively, Weisner led all shortstops with a .979 fielding percentage with (78) put outs, (111) assists, and (18) double plays. Weisner earned himself multiple Player of the Game Awards along with back-to-back Player of the Game recognitions, etching himself as the first player to do so in Gulls franchise history. Weisner set multiple franchise single season records in batting average, hits, and runs batted in. Weisner was awarded with the 2023 Sylvan Lake Gulls Most Valuable Player and WCBL Most Valuable Player award for his efforts throughout the season.
 
Upon completing his season with the Gulls, Weisner signed a professional baseball contract with the Québec Capitales. The Capitales are a professional baseball team located in Québec City, Canada, who play in the Frontier League. Weisner aided the Capitales in capturing their ninth Frontier league championship this past season.
 
Weisner was a two year letterwinner on the baseball diamond for the Braves, earning Second Team All-American honors in 2022. He twice was named First Team All-KCAC and earned a KCAC Gold Glove in 2023. Weisner also excelled in the classroom. He was named to the CSC NAIA Academic All-District Team.
 
Weisner finished his career with a .390 (149-382) batting average. He scored 123 runs, hit 25 doubles, 12 triples, and 19 home runs. Had a .668 slugging percentage, walked 61 times, was hit by a pitch eight times, had a .478 on base percentage, and stole 51 bases.
 
In his two years at OU, Weisner put his name in the OU career record book. He is tied for 10th in hits (149), second in triples (12), seventh in home runs (19), seventh in slugging percentage (.666), tied for ninth in on base percentage (.478), sixth in runs scored (123), ninth in RBI (93), fourth in stolen bases (51), and is tied for eighth in walks (61).
 
Before joining the Braves, Weisner was a member of the Allen Community College baseball team. He was an Honorable Mention All-KJCCC East selection at second base and was team captain for the Red Devils.
 
Weisner graduated in May of 2023 with his degree in applied psychology from Ottawa University. He is working on his masters in forensic psychology.
