Coach Mudd is in his third season as Defensive Coordinator at Ottawa University. He will coach the OU defensive backs.
Before coming to Ottawa University, Mudd served as the Co-Defensive Coordinator at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D. for the 2022 season. He coached the defensive backs, primarily working with the Saints’ safeties. While at PC, the Saints defense finished the season with six all-conference selections and were ranked 13th in the NAIA in defensive INTs (17), 12th in interception return yards (284), third in defensive touchdowns (3), seventh in tackles (831), and 18th in sacks (31).
Prior to his time at Presentation College, Mudd taught CTE at Lawrence High. Mudd served on the football staff as Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line Coach and assisted the basketball program by coaching the freshman team for the Chesty Lions.Â

Mudd’s first turn at Presentation College was for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He was an assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator for the Saints. Mudd also coached the Saint Defensive Line.Â

Prior to his first stint at Presentation College, Mudd was a defensive intern at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill. working with former OU defensive coordinator, Josh Homolka assisting him with the Safeties.Â

Before to his time at Northern Illinois University, Mudd was a graduate assistant coach at Ottawa University, working with Running Backs and Tight Ends and assisting the Braves to a KCAC Conference Championship in 2014.Â

Previously to becoming a graduate assistant at Ottawa University, Mudd was the head football and boys basketball coach at Veritas Christian School in Lawrence, Kan.

Mudd graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in sports management with a minor in business. He earned his masters of arts in education curriculum and instruction from Ottawa University.
