Coach Walters is in his first season as an assistant football coach. He is coaching the Braves’ defensive line.

Walters has spent the last 22 years as a defensive coach, with stops at Ottawa High School, West Franklin High School, and Williamsburg High School. Walters has also coached at Appanoose and Pomona Middle Schools.

Walters was a four year letterman on the football field for Ottawa University (1986-1989). He graduated from OU in 1990 with a degree in business management. Walters received his teaching certification from OU in 1993. Walters earned his master’s degree in leadership from Baker University in 2009. He is teaching business at Central Heights High School in Richmond, Kan.

Walters and his wife Joanna, who is Director of Human Resources at OU, have three children and live rurally near Williamsburg, Kan.
